Fourth of July celebrations can be full of fun, fireworks and delicious food but after they’re over, we dread cleaning up the mess. Instead of fretting on July 5th, follow a few of these simple tips to ensure an easy and stress-free clean up.
Start Outdoors
Grab a trash bag and pick up anything laying around your yard or deck. Cups, napkins, used fireworks, watermelon rinds, etc. Spot clean tables and/or furniture and put the yard back together. Since the majority of parties happen outside, this is where the worst of it will probably be. After you clean up miscellaneous trash, you should notice that everything is pretty well maintained.
Grill
You should always clean your grill after it cools, shortly after cooking to eliminate food hardening on grates. Take a wire brush and scrape off food particles. Grates made of cast-iron can be wiped down with paper towels and a bit of oil. Charcoal grills need to be cleaned in the same manner.
Kitchen
The second favorite culprit of July 4th festivity debris is your kitchen. Make sure all food is stored in the fridge, bagged up or thrown away, depending on what it is. Wipe down your countertops and tackle any dishes left in the sink. Do a quick spritz on tables and chairs and then quickly sweep your floor.
Floors
Vacuum all rugs and carpet that may have collected dirt, crumbs or debris from party guests. For wood or tile floors, sweep and then use a mop or Wet Jet to get up any smears or stains and add a nice gleam to the floor surface. Keep up your momentum as you move from room to room so you don’t lose steam.
