Cleaning Tips for Orland Park
If You Only Have Time To Clean One Room In Your House, Other Than The Kitchen, Before Guests Arrive, Make Sure It Is The Bathroom!

Likely you will be focused on cleaning your kitchen before a big party or event such as Thanksgiving and find yourself with little time to deep clean the rest of your home.  If you find yourself short on time, make sure you clean the bathroom that guests will be using.  Folks usually don’t mind a little dust on your coffee table but a dirty bathroom can make your skin crawl.

Avoid making guests uncomfortable by creating a clean, pleasing atmosphere in your restroom.  Here are some of the key things you should be doing:

  • Scrub and wipe down toilet (make sure you get under the seat too) and sink areas
  • Use toilet bowl cleaner and a toilet brush to scrub the inside of the bowl
  • Use glass cleaner and wipe the mirror
  • Sweep and mop (or WetJet) the floor
  • Re-stock toilet paper
  • Empty trash cans
  • Put out a fresh hand towel (bonus points if it matches the theme of your event)
  • Light a neutral scented candle such as fresh linen, vanilla, apple, etc.

You don’t have to clean your bathtub/shower area because no one will be accessing it during the event.  Since you are short on time, you can leave that area until the next day or when you are scheduled to thoroughly clean it.  Be sure to keep your shower curtain or doors closed.

When you are extremely short on time or simply too overwhelmed to manage it, hire a local cleaning service to tidy up before or after your event.  Depending on the aftermath, you might want them to tackle both.
